News: LDN Africa Project Site: LDNAfricaAids.org
Be sure and visit the web site ldnafricaaids.org for the ambitious new project to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa. The Vision: The AIDS situation in Africa has reached a pandemic level. More than 26 million people are HIV-positive, over 6 million have active AIDS and 11 million have already died as a result of the devastating illness. Of those newly infected, over 60% are women, many with children also infected. In sub-Saharan Africa one-half of the 14 million orphans are estimated to be HIV+ and 50% of untreated newborn HIV+ babies will die before the age of two. HAART drugs are available to less than 25% of those who need them (only 6% of children) due to cost and lack of medical personnel. Not only are these drugs costly and complex to administer, they are often too toxic for children who are even more difficult to manage medically. Our recent discovery of the effectiveness of NALTREXONE in ultra low doses (LDN) to strengthen the immunity of autistic children started us on this pathway of wanting to help with HIV/AIDS in Africa. If proven effective in our controlled, clinical study in Mali, this easily managed, inexpensive non-toxic drug can keep HIV-positive persons from progressing to AIDS. The implications are enormous. - Continue at ldnafricaaids.org
News: FuturisticWave.com

Dr. McCandless’ son Richard Bruce (who re-created this site from a former web master) republishes his own site, futuristicwave.com, featuring his anime design work and fiction novel Rainy City. Also featured are his clothing designs, a how-to on computer anime creation, and innovations.

As the son of Dr. McCandless I observed my mother’s experience with her granddaughter and my niece, and how it brought us into the realm of autism. I witnessed the effect it had on my mother, who being moved by Chelsey as a person was motivated hence forth to find a cure. I was amazed as I watched her devotion to the subject, putting that sharp mind and hard work ethic that propelled her to succeed as a doctor to work on the daunting problem of autism. It was interesting to see how her connection and love for Chelsey was a driving force resulting in years of in-depth study, thought, experimentation, and resources put into the effort. While there is yet no complete cure for autism, the work Dr. McCandless has done is no doubt a major contribution with measurable results that give many parents hope in the ongoing effort. Of course I am proud of my mother to have made such major accomplishments including world publication, but it seems to me the personal connection she has with Chelsey gave her superior impetus to get results and provide the world with useful medical data, as well as inspiration.
